

Arthur William Bennett, 97, born in Ithaca, New York and of Coconut Creek, FL., passed away on May 10, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Karine Bennett; his granddaughter, Anne Marie Bumgarner and her husband Jon; his great-grandchildren, Jay and Benjamin; his niece, Susan Noziglia; his nephews, Pat Fennell, Thomas Fennell, Mark Bennett and Craig Bennett; and his sister-in-law, Clara Hoover.
He was and is beloved by all. He never considered himself a hero, but in the eyes of his family and friends he was. He served in World War II, received a Bronze Star and went on to serve in the army for a total of 23 years. Upon retiring from the Army he and his family moved to Florida where he bought the 29th home in Coconut Creek. He was an integral part of the development of the City and was considered a city founder. He was celebrated as a Pioneer of Broward County On December 3, 2011. He was a proud member of the Community of Coconut Creek and an integral part of its development both as a member of the City Council and one time Mayor in its early stages.
There will be no religious services. The celebration of his life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
