Donna was born in Jacksonville Florida on February 28, 1960 to Don A and Billie Jeanne Lozier. Most of her formative years were spent in Colorado and in Florida. As a child she loved animals and had a vivid imagination. She loved being a big sister. As an adult she enjoyed bowling, photography, playing poker, art and hosting family events. She was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She often took Mya for the weekend and loved spending all the time she could with her. This was what brought a smile to her face. She was one of the most kind hearted and generous people you would ever have the pleasure to know. She was always there to lend a helping hand and support anyone whether it was financially or a shoulder to lean on. Donna would do anything she could to help someone in their time of need no matter what the cost. She was an avid animal lover and extended a helping hand to many stray animals providing a loving home for them. It did not matter to her that her home looked like a zoo. She enjoyed holding family gatherings at her house from BBQ’s, pool parties, birthdays and Holidays. Donna was always sure to “pull out all the bells and whistles!” She went above and beyond to make every event into a memorable occasion. Many would say that she had a knack for such events. She spent a good amount of time with her nephew’s Benjamin S Vernelson III and Michael B Lozier. Aunt Donna day was a day that Benjamin or Michael would have the whole day to do whatever they wanted from where to go, what to eat and much more. These were memorable day for both of them. They always looked forward to coming to south Florida for summer vacations to see Aunt Donna. Not only did she leave a footprint in her family and friends lives, but in many of her daughter’s friend’s lives as well. She was a second mom to many like Suzanne Demeritt, Lidia Pena, Charlene Cousino, Marilyn Rosario, Mily Fernandez and Melissa Salvo. She was loved by them all. She was the mom that would drive her daughter and all her friends around to go ice skating, concerts, bowling, or where ever they wanted to go. Jay Ray Permenter was her life partner for 25 years and she held him very close to her heart. She was very grateful for everything that he did for her and thought her. Some of her indulgences were fine dining, sushi, dove chocolate and video games. Donna had a laugh that would fill a room and a smile that would brighten up your day just by looking at her. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her daughter Stephanie. No matter what happened she was always there. Donna was loved very much by her daughter and was always looked up to. Donna meant the world to Stephanie and vice versa. They look so much alike that Donna would refer to them as Pete and Re-Pete. She loved it! She was a kind giving mother and always lent a helping hand and was active in her daughter’s life. She would put her troubles aside to help her daughter before herself.
She took pride in every endeavor and achievement. She attended, Broward Community College from 1997-2000 and was an active member in the Phi Theta Kappa Society. She was also the Florida Region Chapter President for Phi Theta Kappa for 2 years. She was on the “All State Academic Team” for 2 years. Donna was awarded the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges” and was a recipient of the “Excellence in Student Life” Award twice. She graduated from Broward Community College with her Associates in Art and with honors.
