Dorothy Marie Pacent

April 9, 1937 – July 1, 2026

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Nanny. To her grandchildren, she was “Nanny,” and to her great-grandchildren, she was known as “Great Nanny” or “Nanna Nanna”. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her four children, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to know her love.

In her younger years she attended beauty school, then she devoted herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mom. When her children grew up, she began a career with the IRS, where she worked until retirement. She worked hard and always put her family first.

The greatest love of her life was her husband, Jack. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion, and she carried that love in her heart every single day until her last breath. We find comfort knowing they are together again.

Nanny found so much happiness in moving to Florida, where she spent her final years surrounded by family. Those years brought her so much joy, and we are thankful for every birthday, every holiday, every laugh, and every memory we were able to make with her.

She found happiness in the little things that made life special. She loved getting her hair and nails done, shopping for a new outfit or her favorite cardigan, playing her numbers, going to the casino, and spending evenings watching S.W.A.T. and old Chuck Norris shows. She was also a devoted sports fan who loved baseball and football and could hold her own in any conversation about the game.

She had an impressive knowledge of both sports and always enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams. She was a true foodie who loved trying delicious meals and never turned down a sweet treat. Chinese food, spaghetti and meatballs, roast beef sandwiches, and jelly donuts were among her favorites.

She never forgot a birthday. Every year, without fail, a birthday card would arrive, reminding each of us just how loved we were. It was one of the many ways she made everyone feel special. She was always beautifully put together, had a witty sense of humor, and wasn’t afraid to let her stubborn side shine. She loved telling stories about the past, like Jones Beach, making us laugh, and sharing the wisdom that only comes from a life well lived. Looking back, those stories and conversations have become so special.

Nanny, thank you for loving us. We will miss you more than words can express, but we find peace knowing your love will forever be a part of who we are. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever be in our hearts.
