She was born in the Bronx, New York, on May 20th, 1944, to Aminta and Joseph Claudio. Unfortunately, she never met her birth father, as he was in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and he died at sea when his ship was destroyed. She was raised by Amy and her step-father Joseph Pimentel from the age of 3. She moved to Miami at nine years old and graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School in 1962. She met Ronnie Dean Houshour at a military dance and married in June of 1963. She had children and moved around frequently due to Ronnie being in the Air Force. She was widowed after only seven years and raised three children by herself. She worked hard at many jobs but always told stories about being a barmaid for the Miami Dolphins in 1977, their championship year. She has worked in many positions at Publix for 22 and a half years but liked the back door, receiving the best.
She was a member of St. Vincents Catholic church in Margate for over 35 years, where she was an usher, eucharistic minister, and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her children: Debbie Toombs (David), Dennis Houshour (Stacy), and Annette Davies (Mark), grandchildren; Derek, Devin (Manny) Alvarez, and Delaney Toombs; Joey, Brian and Lola Houshour, Kyle Davies, and great-grandchildren Carolina and Miles Alvarez.
A memorial service for Margaret will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1 North State Road 7, Margate, FL 33063. Dinner and reception to follow at Cokesbury UMC fellowship hall, 1801 NW 65th Ave. Margate.
She asked that this message be shared: "Goodbye, my many friends and family; thank you for all of your kindness. I'll have no viewing, but I am going to a happier place where I am sure we will meet again, but until then, give someone a hug. God Bless"
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kraeermargate.com for the Houshour family.
