Mark Yaeger

Born on June 26, 1962, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, he was the eldest of Gene Yaeger's children and the son of Lillie Francene Butler.

At eighteen, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an infantryman at Fort Stewart, Georgia, earning the Expert Infantryman Badge and his jump wings, along with the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon.

He was self-reliant and capable, a man who would rather fix a thing himself than wait on anyone to come do it. He walked through life with quiet grace, remaining in his cherished home on his own terms until the end. Those who loved him found great comfort in his steady presence and his unwavering authenticity.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann, in March 2025; by his father, Gene, in March 2021; and by his mother, Lillie, in September 1970.

He is survived by his son, Kyle; his stepdaughter, Christina, and her children and grandchildren; his loving stepmothers, Lois and Suzy; his brothers and sisters, Darla (Tom), Rodney (Kelly), Stacie, John, Jason (Leah), Jeff (Tracy), Beth (John) and Max (Mylinda); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery to celebrate Mark's life on September 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
