Mary Rita Doolan Kennedy

Mary Rita Kennedy, 91, of Tamarac, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Rita was born on July 19, 1923 in Waterbury, CT. to Patrick James Doolan and Lillian Irene Horan Doolan. She grew up in Waterbury and attended St. Francis of Xavier Parochial School and Crosby High School. She started working for Southern, New England Telephone company in 1942. She was also a union member through out her career. Rita married Raymond F. Kennedy on September 13, 1952.They permanently moved to Miami, FL in 1955. Rita transferred to Southern Bell of South Florida and retired in 1982 as maintenance administrator She had 29 years service and was involved with the Southern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She also earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Miami-Dade Community College in 1982. Rita enjoyed singing in the church choir, listening to music, going to live shows, reading health magazines, going out to dinner, talking to friends and most of all spending time watching T.V. and movies with her family. Rita was married for 62 years and is survived by her husband, Raymond F. Kennedy, and two children: Raymond Wayne Kennedy and Patricia Ann Kennedy,, all reside in Tamarac, FL. Her sister-in-law, Nadine Ann Doolan and her family: Diane Elizabeth Doolan and Thomas Patrick Doolan of Miami Lakes, FL. Sister-in-laws Dorthy Kennedy O'Toole and husband Donald of Naugatuck, CT. Lorraine Kennedy Wildman of Waterbury, CT and Brother-in-law Robert Kennedy and wife Alace of Naugatuck, CT. Also, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parent's Patrick James Doolan, Lillian Irene Doolan and brother Thomas Edward Doolan. She will be missed greatly by her family. Rita will be remembered as a sweet, kind loving wife and mother who loved nature and all its beauty. She loved her family and cats deeply. We love you Mom.
