From the first day I met Shadon I knew she was special. As a child, she was full of life, bright, intelligent, inquisitive but at the same time humble, loyal and had a strong conviction in her ideas and beliefs. All that said it’s easy to see why she stood out amongst her peers. Not in a boastful fashion, but in a quiet yet strong, introspective, and very observant of her surroundings and everyone in it. Simply put, she was an old soul.
After completing Jr High, Shadon moved to Florida with her family in 1996. She had a deep desire for taking care of people, so she pursued a career in nursing to fulfill this need. Her real passion though was learning, by any means necessary, in search of self and the truth. During this search, she found the love of her life Kevin and together they would go on to have two beautiful daughters thus making up their family. Shadon enjoyed her family and loved spending time with them.
Shadon firmly believed in her ancestral beginnings and was very proud of her strong Jamaican heritage. Often when she’s told that she sleeps with her eyes open, she would proudly respond by saying “I’m a Seer;” “I see things that normal people don’t see and have dreams that normal people don’t have.” She believed she had travelled this earth in many former lives and this will not be the end to her existence. As we have all been taught in physics class, Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, and anyone that knew Shadon, knew that she was ball of Energy.
To know Shadon was to Love Shadon!
Many were captivated by her beauty, her smile and just her powerful presence, all in a small package. What they were really attracted to was her spirit. She’s told me in many of discussions that the body was simply a vessel that contains a life force, and as this body can no longer sustain us, this life force ‘just like Energy’ will become one again with all things (the universe.) I’m relating her story to you so that you can better understand her view on life.
Though her physical presence will no longer be amongst us her essence will continue to live on in her daughters, in our memories, and in our hearts. As she was a teacher in life she’s teaching us now in her passing, that life should not be taken for granted and should be celebrated to the fullest.
In celebration of Shadon’s life, I want to recognize those closest and most treasured relations in her short time with us.Shadon is survived by her spouse, Kevin Hughes; two daughters, Bailey and Lilly Hughes; mother, Sharon smith; father, Eddie Haydon Williams; brother, Haydon Williams; sister, Chanel Williams; grandmother, Vashti Smith; aunties, Jean Williams, Merlyn Blackwood and Maggy Smith; uncle, Nigel Smith; cousins, Tafawa, Tacuma, Tashana, Steven, Cindy, Kanei, Ginelle, Nikki and Jennifer.
