Tertulia Lourdes Orelus, b.k.a Marie Lourde, went to Heaven Wednesday November 8th 2017, after battling cancer for almost 2 years. Her husband, 4 children and 5 grandchildren were by her side the entire time. Tertulia was born on August 14th, 1956 in cap Haitian Haiti to Termilien Orelus and Arianne Joseph. In her early 20s, she met and married Robert Philogene, and they had 4 children. Robert died in 1996, and she remained unmarried until recently, when she married her love of 4 years Jonas Aucoeur. Tertulia was always a fun loving, generous, friendly personality. She made many friends wherever she went, with her big smile, work ethics, and welcoming nature.Very concerned about her country and the poor, she became heavily involved in politics to influence positive change. She loved to travel, cook, sing - her hidden talent, do charity work, and spend time with friends and family. The more people around her, the happier she was, as she loved people. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says" God loves a cheerful giver." God had to be in love with Tertulia because she would always happily give everything she had, and open the doors of her home to those in need. Sundays were always packed at her house because she cooked for "EVERYONE". Even as a child, she often got in trouble for giving away hers and the family’s belongings and money to others in need. Every year for Christmas and birthdays, her children would have the same discussion "what can we buy for mommy that she won't give away". She is sorely missed. Her only son, Robert Jr promises to always be his sister's keeper. Her youngest Jennifer, just like her mother will continue to feed anyone who comes around her. Her second child Rose, promises that we will continue to always put our heads together, and her oldest Marie will continue to help and defend others and sing beautiful songs. Through her children, Tertulias spirit lives on.
