

Virginia Howard, 81, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, GA, with Rev. Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park, in Marietta. She is preceded in death by her Husband James Howard, and three brothers, Raymond Swanson, Zeke Swanson and Willard Swanson.
Mrs. Howard was born on November 30, 1935, in Kennesaw, GA. She was the third born in a family of eight children. She attended McEachern High School where she sang in the school chorus. She married the love of her life, James Howard, in 1952. Together they enjoyed square dancing, camping and fishing on lake Weiss, and vacationing in Panama City. She drove a school bus for the Cobb County School System for 28 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her daughter, LaJan Howard (Vicki) of Tucker, GA; two sons, Steve Howard (DeLynn) of Marietta, GA, Greg Howard (Mary Margaret) of Ranger, GA; two sisters, Margie Boling (LaVoy) of Marietta, GA; Becky Burnett of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Larry Swanson (Ann) of Marietta, GA, Herbie Swanson (Jerrie) of Kennesaw; four grandchildren, Gregory Howard, Daniel Howard, Isabella Howard, Benjamin Howard; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
