

Betty Camp Godwin passed away peacefully November 24, 2023, at the age of 96. She was born in Dallas, Georgia on June 19, 1927. She is survived by son Ralph E. Godwin, Jr. and Elaine of Marietta, Georgia, son Michael E. Godwin and wife Suzanne of O’Fallon, Missouri, grandson Jason Godwin and wife Tiffany of Atlanta and beloved great grandson John Watson Godwin. She is also survived by niece and nephew Judy and Jerry Camp and nephew Greg Godwin.
Betty lived in Marietta her entire adult life. She worked for Lockheed for thirty-eight years, eventually advancing to the position of Production Manager. She was also a member of the International Association of Machinists. Betty was involved in state and local politics for many years and was a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party.
Family and friends were very important to Betty. She frequently entertained in her home, the little red house on Stewart Avenue that was lovingly decorated for every holiday throughout the year. Betty’s favorite hobby was cooking. She was at her happiest in her kitchen and was highly regarded for her culinary expertise.
Betty’s family would like to extend special thanks and recognition to the Drexinger family for their continued love and support, to friend and Hospice Volunteer Linda Spears for her care and compassion, to Steve Mitchell for his longtime friendship and devotion, and heartfelt gratitude to Betty’s friend and dedicated caregiver Olivia Haji.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Nicodemus Camp and Joetta Brown Camp, five brothers and sisters, and infant son Ricky.

Funeral Services for Betty will be held Thursday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the Historic Marietta Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home with interment following at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
