Betty Carroll Scarborough

Betty Carroll Scarborough, 85, of Roswell, GA, passed away on August 15, 2024, at Tranquility Hospice Care at Kennesaw Mountain. Mrs. Scarborough was born on April 18, 1939, in Smithville, Tennessee but moved to Akron, Ohio as a little girl.

It is in Akron that Betty met the love of her life Mr. Robert Scarborough. Betty and Bob went on to raise four children, make a host of lifelong friends, and later spoil many grandchildren and then great grandchildren. Betty was happiest when surrounded by her family and devoted her life fully to ensuring that everyone was taken well care of. A better wife, caring mother, doting grandmother, proud great grandmother or loyal friend could never be found.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving parents Mr. Compton Rhea and Mrs. Ola Mai Givens, her sister Mai Clair Miller and brother-in-law Mr. William Irwin.

Betty leaves to mourn her husband of sixty-five years Mr. Robert Scarborough, sister Cheryle R. Irwin, sons Jeffrey and Steven (Nicole) and daughters Susan Clayton (John) and Jennifer Crawley (Ian). Grandchildren also missing Ma are Hillary vanLeeuwen (Frans), Mikayla Scarborough, Robert Clayton (Charlotte), Colleen Sharpe (Josh), Claudia Clayton, Jessie Schroeder, Brennick Thompson, Olivia Ferrell, Gavin Ferrell, Cody Crawley, Amber Crawley and Bethany Crawley. Betty’s great grandchildren feeling the loss are Rhea Eileen and Rowen Anine vanLeeuwen and Emma Laura and Lilly Elizabeth Clayton.

Betty suffered from Macular Degeneration in her later years and was blessed with the kind support of a non-profit agency that funds this prohibitively expensive treatment.

In her final days, Betty was taken care of by the wonderful staff at Tranquility Hospice Care at Kennesaw Mountain. The team at this beautiful facility made her transition very peaceful for her and the family is very thankful for that.
