Brenda Bethune Adkisson

Brenda was born on October 4, 1956, in Augusta, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Peggy King Bethune and the late Cleveland Ward Bethune. She served God, her family, and her community in countless ways. She was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church. Whether acting as PTA or booster club presidents or opening her home to host a family or church event, she always welcomed everyone with a smile. She will be remembered for her love of her family and her hospitality. Her love for Christmas – the gift giving, decorations, and celebrating – was unparalleled.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. John Earl Adkisson, Jr.; son John Adkisson (Katie) of Marietta; daughter, Alyson Davis (Nelson) of Marietta; son, Greg Adkisson of Atlanta, GA; brother, Carl Bethune (Charlotte) of Grovetown, GA; grandchildren, Eli, Grant, Beau, and Lila Glenn Adkisson and Luke, Isaac, Caleb, and Daniel Davis; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She loved and was proud of them all.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 3, 2023, 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Adkisson officiating. Entombment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
