Carl Edward Mitchell

He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Carl F. Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, W. Ruth Mitchell and his brother, Nebo Mitchell.

A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon on Monday at Grace Pointe Baptist Church in Marietta with Rev. Jim Akins and Rev. Mike Faulkner officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Judy King, Pam Lambert, Penny Ross and one son, Haynes Terry Barrett and a sister Elizabeth Dobbins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Gleamer’s Sunday School Class and attended Crestview/Grace Pointe Baptist Church. He played many sports including baseball and football. He was inducted into The Marietta Hall of Fame for baseball. He graduated in 1943 and went into the Navy in World War II and was in the Marshall Islands and also aboard The Air Craft Carrier Shangrala. He was employed with General Motors for 30 years and retired in 1978. He loved to fishing and gardening.

Family will receive friends 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
