David Bates

David Bates was born March 20, 1945 in Marietta, GA. David attended Lemon Street Elementary and High Schools, where he was an outstanding athlete and student. He was married to Clara Foster Bates for more than 50 years. David was a family man and proud father of Clarice (deceased) and Davette Bates-McMutry. He joined Pleasant Grove M.B.C. as a young teenager and was ordained as a Deacon in 1978. David retired from Lockheed Martin, after 39 years of service in 2005. He was an avid golfer and family man. He led an active life until his recent illness. David transitioned to be with the Lord on December 31, 2015. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Viewing at 10:15 AM, Services at 11 AM., a Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 566 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA 30064. Minister Marcus L. Martin eulogist, Minister Jackie Blackburn officiating. Benjamin Lockhart, Jr, Pastor. Interment Kennesaw Memorial. Viewing today 4-6. Family will receive family and friends at the home 6-7.
