
Doris C. Helms of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away on October 2, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs, GA. with Bryant Harris officiating. Her interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia. Doris was born on April 14, 1928 to Mattie Lee and Wesley Cohran of Dallas, Georgia. She worked for Sears and Roebuck corporate headquarters for 14 years. She then assisted her husband, Max Helms, in the day to day operation of their business, Pat Mell Drugs in Smyrna, Ga. She enjoyed interior decorating, painting, and reading murder mystery books. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Cecil Crowley; her second husband Max Helms; her sister Aileen Hulsey; her brother, Ed Corhan and her daughter Vickie Pettit. She is survived by her daughter, Freda Canada (Bob) of Acworth, GA.; her son Joe Helms of Powder Springs, GA.; her son-in-law Boyd Pettit of Cartersville, GA.; her grandchildren Clay Canada (Linda) of Woodstock, GA. and Corrie Hubbard (Bryan) of Hiram, GA.; five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. She was a joy to everyone that met her, always had a smile for all and loved to laugh, especially at herself. Her passing will be felt by many.
