Geraldine May Hammonds

Geraldine “Geri” Hammonds, 76, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, June 30, 2023. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Mayes Ward Dobbins Macland Chapel with Rev. David Donovan officiating. Geri will be interred at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service. The family has requested that donations be made in Geri’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org .

Geri is survived by her loving husband, Clifford S. Hammonds of Powder Springs, GA; sons, Christopher Hammonds & wife Nicole of Pensacola, FL and Aaron Hammonds & wife Shanelle of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Carol Leonard-Prince of Woodstock, GA, and Roseann Nichols of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Savannah Hammonds & Chase Hammonds; and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Virginia Bastian, and brothers, Bill Hood & Michael Bastian.

Geraldine Mary Bastian Hammonds was born on Friday, September 27, 1946, in Hammond, LA to Ray & Virginia Bastian. After graduating high school, she continued her education at the Art Institute of Atlanta where she obtained her associate degree. Geri married the love of her life and best friend, Cliff Hammonds, and they had forty-five wonderful years together. Geri had a close personal relationship with God, and she and Cliff have worshipped together for the last 7 years at Grace Covenant PCA Church. Geri also enjoyed taking part in the sisters of Grace program. Geri had an artistic eye and enjoyed spending her time doing a multitude of different crafts. Geri also enjoyed traveling, spending time on the beach, and she loved gardening. For all her hobbies nothing was more important to her than spending time with her nephews and nieces. She was a nurturing and loving person, and her goal was to always keep things harmonious. Geri’s presence will be forever missed.
