

Jerald R. “Jerry” Williams passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the age of 72. Jerry was born October 1, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA. He grew up in Northfield, NJ and Marietta, Georgia. He was a graduate of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Class of 1971. He was a high school basketball star where he led his team to the state championship playoffs. He was a legacy of the Wheeler High School’s first golf team.
Jerry’s life was filled with adventure and travel. After high school, he spent his year before college traveling around the United States,
visiting the national parks out west, then Europe. He attended The University of North Carolina – Wilmington where he received his B.S. degree in Geology, Marine Geology. Also, his master’s degree from Troy University. His science career spanned over many decades as a Geologist, Petroleum Landman, and Science Teacher/ Professor. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
His laugh was contagious and could always make a person smile and laugh. He was a great storyteller. All that knew him loved his heart and his adventurous, curious spirit. He was a brother like no other. We are better off for having known him. Jerry was a friend to many and was loved by all.
Jerry Williams is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Williams. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Williams, and his family, Jack Williams, Janet Williams, Terri Sarnoff (David), and Jason Valladares.
