14, 2024. Josh lived his entire life in Marietta, Georgia, except for several years spent in
childhood living in Ossingen, Switzerland. The experience of living in this rural village abroad
with his family sparked his lifelong love of learning, adventure and new experiences.
Josh was known for his caring spirit to his friends and family, and his passion for helping others
inspired him to help others across the world through his work at Samaritan’s Purse. He was able
to provide aid to refugees in Iraq, Covid-19 victims in New York City and hurricane survivors in
St. Martin. He was honored to have the opportunity to express his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ
by helping those who could not help themselves.
Josh had a kind heart, a listening ear, and was known for his generosity. He was always seeking
to bake the perfect loaf of bread and brew a flawless espresso. He made the best fried eggs
and a delicious pasta dish, al dente (as that is the only way). Josh was a master sailor in his
free time. He learned to sail in Baja, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez. He took thousands of
vacationers out to sea on the Atlantic Ocean as a sailing instructor at Sea Island.
Josh was smart, always ready to offer advice or a solution to any problem. He could talk for
hours about the stock market or the Roman Empire. In fact, there weren’t many topics that he
didn’t know everything about. He most enjoyed talking shop with his father during their many
years working together at Consolidated Engineering Company, where he was the general
manager.
Josh is survived by his mother and father, Linda and Scott Crafton; his sisters, Kelsey Phillips
(Taylor) and Starr Story (Will); his nephews, Bear, Sam and Drake Phillips; his aunts, Kay and
Cathy; his uncles, Paul, Tyler, Glenn, and Ed; his cousins, Wesley, Susanna, Laura, Matthew,
Mark, Jesse, Amy, Justin, David and DJ.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and the impact he made on every life he touched.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 18, 2024 in the Historic Chapel of
Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:55
AM prior to the service.
