Judith Ann Moran Gordon was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 10, 1943, to Marjorie Catherine Backstrom and Richard Gordon Moran. After graduating from Marietta High School in 1961, she attended the former Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia, and then transferred to the University of Georgia. Smitten with the boy next door, Judy married her high school sweetheart, Roy Warren Gordon, on August 17, 1963. They were the best of friends, loved one another deeply, and celebrated 63 years of covenant marriage before her passing.
Judy served those she loved most through warm hospitality, thoughtful gift-giving, and diligent, heartfelt prayers to her heavenly Father. She served the community of Marietta and the body of Christ through acts of volunteering, leading small-group women’s Bible studies, teaching Sunday School for youth and young adults, and mentoring countless young women in the Lord. If you were loved by Judy, you can be certain prayers on your behalf were spoken.
Passionate about her beloved town of Marietta, collecting antiques, themed celebrations, classically fun fashion, vacations on St. Simons Island, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, Judy most cherished time spent with her family, her greatest joy.
Judy is survived by her husband, Warren; children, Amy (Rob) Davis and Matthew (Lisa) Gordon; and her beloved grandchildren, Mary Grace (Thomas) Selman, Annie (Victor Barrett) Davis, Ben (Erin) Gordon, Frances (Hayden) Bryant, Betsy (James) Whitmire, and Mary Katherine Gordon.
Judy’s memorial service will be held on September 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Marietta Chapel, 148 Church Street NE, Marietta, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. The family requests no flowers, but if you would like to make a donation in memory of Judy, please consider giving to First Baptist Church Marietta or Tranquility Hospice Care at Kennesaw Mountain.
