Judith Hubert Manning unexpectedly and painlessly passed Friday night September 5th. Born on October 24, 1942, in Atlanta, Georgia, and a proud graduate of Marietta High School and the University of Georgia, Judy was a beloved sister, wife, mother and grandmother. The third daughter to O.C. and Ruth Hubert, Judy married Aymar on March 25, 1965 and gave birth to her son Henry Aymar Manning III on March 12 1969 and her daughter Elizabeth Swann Manning in September 20 1979.
Dedicating over fifteen years to public service, she represented District 34 in the Georgia House of Representatives and chaired committees for the Department of Natural Resources, Child Services, and Appropriations. Her commitment to giving back to the community was evident through her generous support of the young and the sick. She was a Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church, deeply involved with Devereaux, Marietta Educational Garden Center, Cobb Family Resources, March of Dimes, Girls Inc., Cobb Republican Women. Always an advocate for families and women, Judy also donated to Manning Kitchen at Wellstar Kennestone and the Garden of Hope/Respite Area at Tranquility. One of her most cherished accomplishments was co-founding the Pink Ribbon Golf Classic in 1997 alongside her dear friend Mayor Ansley Meaders benefiting breast cancer research and awareness.
Judy had a deep passion for travel and a true appreciation for the joys of life. She studied history in Vienna, made time for annual girls' trips with her beloved Kappa Alpha Theta sisters, enjoyed listening to Waylon Jennings, and was a fierce competitor in bridge and mahjong. Above all, she treasured moments with family. Judy spent the last week of her life with her entire family at her favorite place on earth, Pawleys Island, watching her grandson Hank kneel on the pier for his engagement to Mary Katherine Thompson. She is survived by her husband Aymar, her son Hank III, her daughter Elizabeth and her wife Angela, her grandchildren Alice, Hannah, Hank IV, and Thomas Sabine, and her siblings Deborah, Marylin, and Dick Hubert.
