Linda Sue Stanzilis, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on December 24th, 2024. Sue was born in 1948 in Ocilla, GA to the late Lona King and Russel Thompson. She grew up in a large family surrounded by her four brothers and often told stories of driving a tractor on their family farm from the time she could walk, many times having to use a stick to help push the gas pedal. She had such pride of her childhood and the days of working on the farm.
Sue married her late husband, John in June of 1976 and started Solar Land Surveying Company together out of their garage. They worked together to grow the company to eventually become one of the most successful Land Surveying companies in the state.
When Sue wasn’t running the operations of their company, she loved to travel with John. It didn’t matter where they went, from a quaint little fishing hole to the Nickle Slots in Vegas. Sue was happy as long as she was with John; her one true love.
Sue is survived by her 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Niki and John Groves, Amanda and Darren Cook and Sheryl Stanzilis, and 8 grandchildren; Madison, Abby, Ryder, Lincoln, Lily, Autumn, Lucas, and McLain. Sue is also survived by her 3 brothers, Donnie Thompson, Dennis Thompson, and Danny Thompson. Sue is preceded in death by her husband John Stanzilis, her parents Lona King and Rusell Thompson, along with her brother Glynn Thompson.
Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and our memories will live on forever. Our hearts can find peace knowing that she is once again resting with her one true love.
