Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Latty, age 92, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on September 6, 2023. She was born on August 22, 1931, in Forsyth County, GA, to the late George and Nellie Morgan. Libby was a beloved member of her community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Libby dedicated her career to the Cobb County School System, where she worked as a secretary in various high schools and at the county office. Her commitment and hard work made a lasting impact on the education system, and her colleagues held her in high regard. She was certified as a Professional Secretary. She retired in 1993 and became and active volunteer in the community. She was a member of the Marietta Chapter of Pilot International, a chapter sponsoring those affected by traumatic brain injuries, birth defects and Alzheimer’s disease. She served as 18-year volunteer and auxiliary member for Ross Memorial Healthcare in Kennesaw in the Activities Department.
As a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, Libby found solace and strength in her faith. Her devotion to her religion was an important part of her life, and she cherished the community she found within the church.
In her free time, Libby loved to travel with her husband Bill. Together, they explored various destinations, including Canada, Nova Scotia, Northern and Western US, Cancun, and the French Rivera-Monaco. These adventures created cherished memories that will be treasured by her loved ones forever. She also enjoyed her lunch outings with the Marietta, Red Hat “Dahlins”
Libby was pre-deceased by her husband of 49 years, William (Bill) Latty. Survivors include son Mark Latty, grandson Joe and granddaughter Becca and Pam Latty; daughter Leigh Bonacci and grandsons Bryan Bonacci and Austin Bonacci. She also leaves behind many close friends and loving caregivers at Legacy Ridge Neese Road.
A private graveside service with family and close friends will be held to honor and remember Libby's life. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
