Norma Enete, 79, of Marietta, passed away June 17, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Marietta, with Dr. Bill Ross and Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 8, 1932 to Lee and Gertrude Ward Peters, Norma grew up in Erlanger, KY. She graduated from Lloyd High School in Erlanger in 1951 and the University of Kentucky in 1955, having been enrolled there when Adolph Rupp was coaching basketball and remaining a lifelong UK basketball fan. Norma married Rev. William Walters Enete, Jr. in 1952 in Erlanger, KY. Norma loved children and always had time for them. She taught 6th and 7th grade math in Cedartown, GA. She taught Pre-K in Beecher Hills Kindergarten where she served as Director for 5-year olds, Morningside Baptist Church, serving as Director for 3-year olds, and Eastside Baptist Church, where she was Director for 3-year olds. Norma retired from Marietta Middle School where she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades for 24 years.
Norma was a member of the Jaycettes, serving as President and Secretary, and a member of the Cobb Chamber and Republican Women’s Club. She served on the Board for The Salvation Army and was a member of the East Cobb Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Club of Marietta and Kiwanis Golden K, serving as Director for 4 years. Norma currently served on the Community Services, Soap Box Derby, and Sunshine Committees. She previously served as Committee Co-Chair for the Historical Club Preservation and Community Services Committee.
Norma is survived by her husband, Bill Enete; three children, William Walters Enete, III of Marietta, Holly Carol Edley Gatling & husband, David, of Virginia Beach, VA, and David Andrew Enete of Snellville; grandsons, Ryan Sears Edley and Brandon Samuel Edley; and granddaughter, Amelia Grace Enete. She was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Ward Puckett, stepfather, Wm. Franklin Puckett; sisters, Faustina Peters Bailey and Shirley Peters Smiley; and her brother, James Edgar Peters.
