With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Rachel Inez Baxter. The Lord took her precious hand on May 13, 2025 and ushered her onto Glory. What a sight that must have been to hear Jesus say “Well done, good and faithful servant. Welcome home”. Our hearts are heavy but we know where she is dwelling because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. She’s now in Heaven experiencing the joy that she always dreamed about. We take comfort in knowing that she had a joyful reunion with our Creator and her loved ones that had gone before her.
Inez is survived by her four children, Susan (Melvin) Gilley, William Baxter, Mark Baxter, and Alan (Kay) Baxter; six grandchildren Marie Baxter, Ann Cantrell, Michael Baxter, Matthew Baxter, Andrew Wilmot, and Kristin Reeves; six great grandchildren Kalyn Patton, Kadyn Patton, Aaron Patton, Jada Baxter, Jasmine Baxter, and Callie Cantrell; and sister-in-law Nadine Orr.
Inez was born in Ball Ground, Georgia on November 30, 1928 and had to overcome the early passing of her father at a young age. She lived a full life, attending Reinhardt College, working at the Red Cross in Atlanta, and raising her four children. She was a gentle woman with a warrior spirit, taking care of her husband after he went blind and as a caregiver for her mother with Alzheimer’s. Fly high sweet angel.
The family will meet at Carmichael Funeral Home (1130 Whitlock Ave. Marietta, GA) at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
A brief graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend David Warriner officiating.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Samaritan’s Purse.
