A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Mathis served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army. He was a former police officer for the City of Marietta and retired from The Southern Company.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel Brooks Mathis of Kennesaw; one son, Jacob Thomas Mathis of Marietta; three sisters, Anna Laura Mathis Womack and her husband, James of Marietta, Mildred Mathis McGiboney and her husband, Frank of Oxford, Martha Mathis Henson and her husband, Larry of Marietta; sister, June Blackwell Bozeman and her husband, Joe; brother, Tommy Blackwell; manyl nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
