Robert Lee Brackett, age 82, went to be with our Lord on September 5th, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Hall Brackett, his children Jeff & Wendy Brackett, Jennifer & Mike Lewis, and Jonathan & Michelle Brackett, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Robert was born at the “old” Marietta hospital on Cherokee Street on December 19th, 1943. He went to Marietta High School, served in the Army National Guard and went to Southern Tech where he also taught Hydraulic classes. He worked at Murray Shoe Store on the Marietta Square and was a rink manager at the Dixie Skating Rink.
Robert began his Fire Protection career at Grinnell in 1964 and continued with other fire protection companies until owning Cherokee Fire Protection before retiring. His hobby was woodworking and made beautiful furniture for his family and friends. Robert was a N.E. Cobb Jaycee, was chairman of the Empty Stocking Committee every year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanch and James N. Brackett of Marietta; sisters Irene Merritt, Laura Smith, Revonda Foster, Christine Preast, Shirley Tolbert, Sue McKay; Brothers Harold, Lloyd and Ray Brackett.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10th at Carmichael Funeral Home on Whitlock Ave, from 5:00 pm until 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday September 11th Carmichael Funeral Home at 11:00am, preceded by visitation at 10am.
Rev. Johnny Foster, East Cobb Baptist Church will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
