Roger was a quiet, thoughtful man who often kept to himself. He wasn’t one to share much or express his feelings openly, but those who knew him understood that he loved with all his heart.
He was hardworking, intelligent, and deeply devoted to his family. He retired from Atlanta Rock Services after a career in the drilling and construction industry, earning respect through his knowledge, skill, and dedication. He had a lifelong interest in history and enjoyed learning about the world around him.
Above all, Roger was a loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Family always came first. His love was often expressed not through words, but through his actions, his loyalty, and simply being there when he was needed.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Jane Groves, in 2011. Their life together meant so much to him, and his love for her never faded. As well as by his parents Judson Groves and Clelia Palumbo-Groves.
Mr. Groves is survived by his three stepdaughters Felicia Hernandez, Mary Goodman, and Janet Hernandez; his brothers Allen Groves and Kenneth Groves; eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Roger once wrote that life doesn’t always go according to plan and that we must learn to roll with the punches. He signed those thoughts with two simple words: “Pleasant journey.”
Now, after fifteen years apart, Roger and Karen are together again.
A graveside service will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park, where Roger will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife.
Quiet in nature, generous in love, and forever in our hearts.
