Sarah Carnes Brown, 99, of West Cobb County, Georgia, peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2025, having lived a joyful and fulfilled life. As an avid reader, who possessed a lifelong love of learning, Sarah's professional accomplishments were many, including her years of service on the Board of Directors for the Cobb County Farm Bureau, the Board of the Kennestone Foundation, the Kennesaw
State University Foundation, and the Board of Directors for Cobb EMC; however, her most cherished roles were those of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love and dedication to her family were unwavering. Sarah was a faithful servant of God and a member of Lost Mountain Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Marvin Lane Brown Sr., her parents, Rev. George Lemuel Carnes and Edna Kirk Carnes, and her siblings, Francis Carnes Bruce and George C. Carnes. She is survived by her sister, Martha Carnes Smith; her son, Marvin Lane Brown Jr. and his wife Lavinia Lindley Brown; her daughter, Sara Jeanne Brown; three grandchildren, Ruth Brown Mathis, H. Luke Mayes IV and his wife, Laura Slicker Mayes, and Amy Brown Holcomb and her husband, Jake Holcomb; five great-grandchildren, Carnes Lindley Mathis, Davis Lane Mathis, Lindley Faye Holcomb, Eli Lucas Mayes, and Maxwell Jagger Mayes; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a small graveside service for the family at Kennesaw Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her name to the charity of your choice.
