

Sharon Patrice Simmers Chumley, 71, of Westminster, South Carolina, passed away on February 18, 2026. Born on December 10, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Simmers and Constance Murphy Simmers.
A devoted Christian, Sharon’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith. She glorified Jesus in all that she did and prayed without ceasing. Her love for Christ shone brightly in her daily walk and in the way she extended His grace to everyone she encountered. Sharon cherished her church family deeply, embracing them as her own.
Sharon dedicated her career to education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree, a master’s degree, and a six-year degree in early childhood education. As a certified gifted teacher and certified mentor, she inspired countless students as well as new teachers over her remarkable 32 - year career. Even after retirement, Sharon continued to teach within her church and community, sharing her passion for learning with others.
Family was at the heart of Sharon’s life. She was a loving mother to Lee Chumley, his wife Abby, Jessica Sutton, her husband Michael, and Samantha Greene; a proud grandmother to Hunter Sutton, Bella Sutton, and Aubrey Leslie; and a dear sister to Gary Simmers, Cathy Becker, Susan Strickland, Keith Simmers as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. Affectionately known as "Frufru," she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by many loved ones who have undoubtedly welcomed her into eternal rest.
Sharon’s legacy is one of faith, love, and dedication—to God, education, and family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May the grace she so freely shared continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on March 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, 3940 Macland Road. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00 AM.
