

William Bristol Hallyburton, age 98, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2104 at 3:00pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with visitation beginning at 2:00pm. There will be a reception to follow the service in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby.
Mr. Hallyburton, son of the late William Sydney Hallyburton and Fannie Whisnant Hallyburton, was born September 28, 1915 in Morganton, North Carolina. He was the general manager of post exchange services at Fort Benning for 14 years and later directed area exchanges and personnel for the Army and Air Force in Europe, Pacific Rim and the Northwest U.S.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maude Bandy Hallyburton; brothers, R.J., George, John, Max; and sisters, Elizabeth Daughterman and Marie Capell.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Grauman Hallyburton; daughters, Mary McCreary (Pat Spence), Jean McCain (Michael), Kaye Maltbie (Allan), Ann Low (Robert); son, Bill Hallyburton (Denise Baird); step children, Gary Grauman (Peg), Jim Grauman (Sharon), Ed Grauman (Kay), Susan Cullen (Joe); sisters, Elsie Childres, Wilma Chamberlain, Mary Sue Smith; brothers, Harold and Richard; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many friends and other relatives.
He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, Columbus or Columbus HospiceBurial arrangements under the direction of Kennesaw Memorial Park.
