Alta Dudley Bayne

Alta Dudley Bayne, of Martinsville, passed away April 5, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 6, 1927 in Franklin County. She was the daughter of the late Walter Bennett Dudley and Alpha Morris Dudley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Bayne, a brother, Cyril Allen Dudley, and infant sister, a niece, Anne Tyree Dudley Russell, and a nephew, Gary Wayne Dudley. Alta was a long time member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church. She was very dedicated and supportive of her church and had served as Trustee, Deacon and in many other capacities. Alta was employed by Clear-Bullock Electric Company for twenty-six years as Corporate Secretary. She was later employed with Rives S. Brown and retired as a realtor in 2009. Alta was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. She will be missed by many who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Excie and Richard Morris of Martinsville, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Shirley Dudley of Rocky Mount and Donald and Vicki Dudley of Fries, a nephew, Kevin Dudley of Fries and a niece, Lori Dudley of Roanoke. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Dr. David Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends forty-five minutes prior to the service in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel. The family suggest in lieu of flowers and food, memorials be made to Starling Avenue Baptist Church, 932 Starling Avenue, Martinsville, VA. 24112 or SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA. 24112. The family extends special thanks to Alta’s caregivers, Kathy Wilson, Lorestine Penn, Zee Funk and Gracie Parrish.
