

Beau Genovese died Thursday, October 1, 2026, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was a resident of Martinsville, Virginia and formerly of Coral Gables, Florida where he resided with his partner of forty years, Thomas Cabelka.
Mr. Genovese was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 12, 1943, to Rudolph Genovese and Gladys Englebert Genovese. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Law. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City and joined Florence Knoll at Knoll International in the design, manufacture, and sale of contemporary office furniture. He took Knoll to Atlanta where he negotiated the largest furniture contract with the Coca-Cola Company. In 1983, he established Corporate Logic in Miami.
In 1995, Mr. Genovese began his career in residential interior design with Margo Brandt in the Genovese-Brandt Design Group. He was the interior designer for some of the most prestigious residences in the United States and abroad. He retired in 2024 to reside in Martinsville, Virginia after acquiring and renovating the Bassett House with Mr.Cabelka.
In addition to his partner, he is survived by his brother Arthur Genovese (Mary) and nephews, Matthew and Michael of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Genovese was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Coral Gables. He was also a member of the Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables and Chatmoss Country Club in Martinsville.
Mr. Genovese was the third-generation alumnus of the University of Virginia where he requested his ashes be strewn on the Lawn and a memorial dedicated.
