

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Robert “Bob” Donald Miller, and her ex-husband of 23 years, Harry Daniel “Danny” Moore; Linda Leigh Whitt Slaughter, sister; Susan “Suzy” Leigh Slaughter Gay, niece; Antonio Nease, special grandson.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Julie Moore (Jeff Gilbert), Tab Daniel Moore, son; Lauren Stowe Chappell (Johnathan), granddaughter; Maggie Melissa Slaughter, niece; Melinda Leigh Gay, great-niece; Allen Gay, great-nephew; Whitney Stowe Draper, special granddaughter; Mark Miller, step-son; Brian Miller (Sondra), step-son; Patricia Gunter, special daughter-in-law; Kimberly Boyd, special daughter-in-law; Savannah Draper, special great-granddaughter; Mollie Draper, special great-granddaughter; Alex Miller, grandson; Blake Miller, grandson; Logan Miller, grandson; Taelor Miller, granddaughter; Samantha Boyd, special granddaughter.
Diane was a 1959 graduate of Roxboro High School, Roxboro NC. She received an associate’s degree from Louisburg Methodist Junior College, Louisburg, NC; Bachelor of Health Science at Duke University, Durham, NC; and a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University in Healthcare Administration. Diane was certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and worked as supervisor for the blood gas laboratory, clinical chemistry laboratory, microchemistry laboratory, and central laboratory collection service at Duke University Medical Center. Diane was the first laboratory manager for Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County and later on, she retired to become a clinical surveyor for Joint Commission, JCAHO, where she then began caring for her disabled husband fulltime. Diane and Bob enjoyed many trips abroad including several countries, and most recently took their granddaughter, Lauren, to Spain for 3 weeks, which was her most memorable trip before her passing. Diane had a great love for cats and adopted many in her lifetime and left behind her cherished Tigger, Theodore, and Zoey. When Diane was not traveling with Bob, they were enjoying living at Carolina Beach, NC for many years where she was active in her church community and “Full Moon”, and she spent a lot of time volunteering at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in the cardiac wing for terminal patients. She also volunteered as a cohost for exchange students at UNC-Wilmington, Wilmington, NC, and was a liaison for the family host program there. In addition to traveling, Diane enjoyed gardening and had a love for pottery.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at McKee Stone Funeral Home. A graveside service at Burchwood Cemetery, 61 Tombstone Drive, Roxboro, N.C. is for this Friday. Further information will be forthcoming.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Glenn Slaughter, Tab Daniel Moore, Travis Gay, Winfred Barry Stowe, Jeff Gilbert, Johnathan Chappell, Matthew Baker, Kevin Smith.
