

Clyde James Holland, 92, of Ridgeway, Va. passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home. He was born in Bluff, North Carolina on August 7, 1933, the son of the late John Spencer Holland and Maggie Parker Holland. Clyde was the oldest surviving child of this union, which included his siblings: Russell Holland, Ranie Holland Vartenisian, Alva Holland and Kay Holland Higgins.
Clyde spent much of his childhood in Knoxville, Tennessee where his father was on the faculty of Johnson Bible College, but at age 17 moved to Horsepasture to stay with his widowed uncle, Dave Holland, attending Spencer Penn High School for two years. Clyde was a member of the school’s last graduating class of 1952. This last class won the county men’s basketball championship with Clyde “Hook” Holland being named Henry County’s best Offensive Player.
After graduation, Clyde served his country in the U.S. Army, receiving basic training in Fort Gordon, Georgia. On his first furlough, Clyde married Shirley Faye Bralley.
He is survived by his oldest son, R. Darryl Holland (Lillian), daughter Vickie Collins (Odell) and son, Larry Holland; grandson, Logan Collins (Kristin) and great grandson, Cooper Holland Collins. 02

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Horsepasture Christian Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Horsepasture Christian Church and will be officiated by Senior Pastor Kyle Thompson. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
