Danette Renee Courtney

Danette Renee Courtney, 42, of 100 Grandin Road in Spencer, died Thursday, April 19, 2012. She was born in Charlotte, NC, January 27, 1970 to Wanda L. Courtney of Spencer and the late Danny Monroe Courtney, Jr.

Danette was a 1988 graduate of Patrick County High School and a 2003 graduate of John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA. She was an Oncology nurse at Chippenham-Johnston-Willis Hospital in Midlothian, VA for 12 years and was employed by Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem. Her nursing degrees included RN, OCN and HCPN and she was a member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Angela Courtney of Charlotte, NC and her brother, Danny M. Courtney, III and wife Ashley of Martinsville.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 4:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Mark Collins and the Rev. Fred Gilley officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.

The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 pm prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Home.
