Dorothy S. Hairfield

Dorothy Stegall Hairfield, 79, of Axton, died Monday October 21, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Henry County on September 2, 1934 to the late Tommy “Tom” Joe Stegall and Annie Wade Stegall. She was retired with more than twenty years as an Inspector with Tultex. Dorothy was of the Baptist Faith.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Jesse Maxie, Sally Ireson, Mary Kelley and Margaret Manning and one brother, Bud Stegall.Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Pete Hairfield of the home, one daughter and son-in-law, Donna J. and Terry Cundiff of Martinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, James L. Joyce, Jr., and wife, Joyce of Martinsville, one brother, Bill Stegall of Ridgeway, four grandchildren, Lori Nance, Jenny Whittaker, Carey McClung and Todd Cundiff and six great-grandchildren, Brook Nance, Spencer and Taylor Keith, P.J. McClung, Haylee Cundiff and Bennett Whittaker. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel in Martinsville with Minister Dave Cuthbertson officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. October 23, 2013 in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Fund C/O Martinsville Area Community Foundation, P.O.
