Edgar Junior Rigney

Mr. Rigney was born on July 15, 1944, in Pittsylvania County, Va. to Roxie Rigney Mayhew. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Gravely Rigney; stepfather, Edward Mayhew; son, Earl J. Rigney; sisters, Geraldine Goins and Frances Rigney; brothers, Raleigh Rigney and Cecil Rigney. He was a lifelong resident of Pittsylvania County. He was retired from Heath’s Sawmill and was a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Rigney is survived by his son, Reverend John R. Rigney and daughter-in-law June; sister, Tressie Pruitt; brothers, Lynwood Rigney and Jerry Rigney.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, Va.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home with Reverend John R Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park in Danville, Va.

At other times the family will be at the residence of his son, Reverend John R. Rigney.
