

Edward Clark (Edd) Shires, Sr., 85, of Collinsville, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Blue Ridge Manor in Martinsville. He was born in Gap Mills, (Monroe County) WV, April 10, 1927 to Christopher Clark Shires and Lula Baker Shires. He was a graduate of Fieldale High School and served in the Army. He retired from Riddle Olds where he was a salesman. Edd was a member of First Baptist Church in Martinsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maxwell Shires.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Warren Shires of the residence; one son, Edward C. Shires, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Wilmington, NC; one sister, Mary Ann Shires Gwyn and husband, Roy of Roanoke; one brother, Benjamin C. Shires and wife, Betty of Collinsville; five grandchildren Scott Shires, Terri Toler, Lisa Albert, John Albert and Emilee Billeaud; four great-grandchildren, Faith, Emma, Chloe and Kaileigh.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. John T. Fulcher and Dr. Dennis Knight officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM, prior to the funeral service at McKee-Stone Funeral Home
