Eldean Nickelston Atkins

Eldean Nickelston Atkins, 87, formerly of 1204 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 26, 2016. She was born January 12, 1929 in Martinsville, to the late Cora Ann Stovall Nickelston and Herbert Columbus Nickelston.

Eldean was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a Henry County school bus driver for more than 25 years. She loved every child that entered her bus and they loved her in return. She was former member of Grace Baptist Church and attended Mercy Crossing.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren J. Atkins, her son Danny J. Atkins, sisters; Pauline Nickelston, Nellie Rakes, and Geneva Biggs, brothers; Willie, John D., and Frank Nickelston.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy A. Boyd and husband Ronnie of Martinsville, grandchildren; Venus Williams and husband Chris, Michael Lankford and wife Kristy, D. J. Atkins and wife Tiffany, Shana Donavant and husband Roy, great-grand-children; Joshua and Hailey Williams, Blaine, Kelsey, Graydon, and Alex Atkins, Claire Lankford, Rustin and Sawyer Donavant, brothers; Jimmy, Bobby, and Paul Nickelston

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 2 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel.
