

Ethel Hylton Hooper, 81, formerly of Ridgeway, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Country Living Adult Care, where she was a resident. She was born in Floyd County on March 9, 1930 to John and Minnie McAlexander Hylton, both deceased. Mrs. Hooper was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hooper; three sisters, Bertha Hylton, Annie Pack and Eveleen Keith; four brothers, George Hylton, Jim Hylton, Walter Hylton and Whitey Hylton.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Shelton and husband, Michael, of Eden, NC; one son, Michael Hooper and wife, Teresa, of Bassett; one step-son, Gerald Hooper of Martinsville; two sisters, Kathleen Mabery of Willis, and Beulah Spencer of Fieldale; one brother, Doris Hylton of Willis; five grandchildren, Christopher Hooper, Kaitlyn Hooper, Michael Shelton, Megan Shelton and Jenna Atwal.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel with the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M., prior to the funeral service at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel.
