Georgia T. Schilling
March 20, 1928 – August 21, 2017

Georgia Taylor Schilling, 89, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving children on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was born on March 20, 1928, in Roanoke, VA., to the late Harbor Leath Taylor, Sr. and the late Bessie Shough Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank L. Taylor, H.L. Taylor, Jr., Mack W. Taylor, Carter W. Taylor and two sisters, Christine Taylor and Polly T. Goff.
She was married to the late James (Jim) Eldridge Schilling, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Schilling Anderson and her husband Steve, of Martinsville, VA and a son, James (Tripp) Eldridge Schilling, III and his wife, Betsy of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by one sister, Deloris Taylor Whetstone of Richmond, VA.
Georgia and her husband were owners and operators of Lee’s Confectionary, The Corner and Green Cross businesses. She was also bookkeeper for Taylor’s Supermarket. She was a hospice volunteer when the program began at Martinsville and Henry County Hospital. She was a volunteer at Clearview Elementary School. Georgia Schilling was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Read-Robins Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and the Virginia Tech Hokies play football.
She was a sweet and loving lady who put her children first. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at First United Methodist Church and will be officiated by the Reverend Keith Ritchie, with interment to follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
