
She was born in Martinsville, June, 9, 1924, to David Robert Hensley and Grace Gregory Hensley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Taylor, Sr.; a son, William A. Taylor, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Graeser and Emily Weick and a brother, David Robert “Dick” Hensley, Jr.
Hazel attended Martinsville High School, worked at DuPont for several
years, and she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville. She was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church during the 25 years she and her husband lived in Bassett.
She is survived by one son, Richard M. Taylor and his wife, Melissa Walton Taylor of Frisco, Texas; four grandchildren, Stephanie Elizabeth Taylor, William Samuel Taylor, and their Mother, Cheryl Davidson Taylor, all of Burleson, Texas, Matthew Caleb Taylor and Jennifer Leigh Taylor, both of Frisco, Texas; three sisters, Peggy Herring and husband, Carroll of Chester, VA, Hope Kirk and Grace Taylor of Martinsville; sisters-in-law, Helen Clark Hensley and Mary Satterfield Taylor of Martinsville, and a brother-in-law, Don Weick of Camden, SC.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 1 P. M. at McKee-Stone Chapel with the Rev. John Fulcher officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
