James Holland

James M. Holland, 78, of Axton passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020. He was born January 20, 1941 in Greensboro, NC, to the late Drewry Willard Holland and Eula Clark Holland Shelton.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Willard Dudley "Bill" Holland, and sister, Mildred H. Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; Daughters, Sharon H. White (David) and Shelby Marie Holland; granddaughters, Savanna James Holland and Shailey Grace Holland; sister, Frances H. Bledsoe and brother, Bobby M. Holland (Linda).

James retired as a supervisor from DuPont.

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Axton Community Volunteer Fire Department, 55 Mountain Valley Rd., Axton, VA 24054 or to the Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 7174 Mountain Valley Rd., Axton, VA 24054.

So sorry to hear about Jimmy. He was a good man and always great to talk to. Whenever I was at the rental house he'd drive that golf cart over to see what was wrong and then give me 3 names of people who could fix it... and every time I'd end up staying around just to listen to him tell stories about him and papa from 30-40 years ago! He will definitely be missed...
