James Shelburne Miles

He was born on February 25, 1934 to the late Clara Lee Clark and John Allen Miles.

Mr. Miles served in the United States Army and was employed as a construction foreman for many years for Stanley W. Bowles Corporation. He was a lifelong, faithful member of Old Well Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Jackson Miles of the home, daughters Karen Sue Miles of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mary Cline (Brad) of Ridgeway and Kathryn “Kitty” Watkins (Robbie) of Spencer; sister Kitty M. Horsley; grandson Daniel Jackson Watkins (Loren); great-grandchild Paisley Dawn Watkins, and many loyal and beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miles was predeceased by sisters, Vera Wade, Nellie Mae Harrison, Elizabeth Moore, and Myrtle Miles, and brothers Richard Miles, Jack Miles, and Carl Miles.

Flowers will be appreciated, or donations can be made to the Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund at Old Well Christian Church, PO Box 163, Spencer, VA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Old Well Christian Church and at other times at the home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Old Well Christian Church and will be officiated by Reverend Tim Mills and Reverend Roy Parker. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
