

John Paul Hairfield, 86, of Axton, Virginia, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Henry County, March 22, 1928 to late John T. Hairfield and Mary Stanley Hairfield. Paul served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was retired from Hooker Furniture Company as a Cabinet Room Supervisor with 37 years of service and attended Beckham United Methodist Church in Axton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Burton Hairfield and six brothers, Roy, Irvin, Archie, Clyde, James and Charlie Hairfield.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Rosa Carol Evans & husband Butch of Martinsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, John P. Hairfield, Jr. & wife Pat of Stoneville, NC and Larry Dean Hairfield & wife Wanda of Axton; two sisters, Patty Minter of Stanleytown and Lois Martin of Bassett; one brother, Glen Hairfield of Axton; 9 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel with Rev. Alvin Joe Nunley officiating. Interment will follow at Beckham United Methodist Church Cemetery
The family will receive friends Wednesday , September 17, 2014 from 6-8:00PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Wanda Hairfield at 121 Urban Drive, Axton, VA.
