Julie Metz

Julie Metz, 55, of Martinsville, Va., passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on August 22, 1971, to Michael Hugh Metz and the late Anne Ford Smith.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Helen Ford and grandfather Art Ford.

She is survived by her children, Annagrace “Annie” Arnold and Dylan Arnold; her brother, Todd Metz (Jilian); her father Mike Metz, her stepfather, Mike Smith (Aleeta), her stepsisters, Megan Smith, McKenna Metz, Eliza Campbell, Sophie Campbell, Elizabeth Pearson, and Laura Johnston; her stepbrother, Drew Metz; her nephews, Warren Metz and Xander Bowen; and her nieces, Cecilia “CeCe” Metz, Teegen Bowen, and Eastland Pearson-Scott. Julie also leaves behind countless cherished friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Julie graduated from Martinsville High School and devoted her career to serving the local medical community, including roles at Martinsville Memorial Hospital and Carilion Clinic. Known for her infectious smile and joyful laugh, she cherished her “kudzu-style” family, reading, relaxing at the beach, listening to rock music, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Dasher and Stella. Above all, Julie’s proudest role was being a mother to Annie and Dylan.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday 24, 2026, at McKee-Stone Funeral Home and will be officiated by Minister Tim Hunt.
