Kayla Marie Wood

Kayla Marie Wood, 20, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 in Pittsylvania County. She was born in Martinsville on March 22, 1996 to Jerry R. Wood and Girlane Zuniga. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James Russell Wood and Nannie Spencer Wood, uncles, Randy and Bobby Wood.

Kayla was a graduate of Bassett High School and was attending Danville Community College. Kayla loved animals, playing soccer and art. She also loved her family here and abroad very much.

She is survived by her parents; her brother, Jamie Wood and sister-in-law Melissa Seay; nephews, Copeland Williams and Benjamin Wood; maternal grandparents, Wilfredo Zuniga and Maria Amanda Zuniga, aunts and uncles, Buzz, Kay, Pete. and Karen Wood, Juliana Zuniga Otero, Mery Hellen Zuniga Otero, Neydi Zuniga Otero; uncle, Wilfredo Zuniga Ottro; special cousin, Armando Madrigral Zuniga; cousins Esau Madrigal Zuniga, and Emmanuel Colindris Zuniga.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Hillcrest Baptist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Doug Ramsey and Derek Futrell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the church. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martinsville Henry County SPCA.
