

Lucian “Bub” Roach, Jr. passed away at his home on November 3, 2014. He was born June 6, 1922 in Axton, Virginia, the son of Lucian Roach, Sr. and Hattie Gauldin Roach. Bub was a retired tobacco farmer and he later retired from American Furniture Company in the shipping department. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Collinsville where he served as a usher until declining health. Then he sat in the chair and greeted the people and gave out the weekly bulletin, this was something he loved to do and did this at each church where he was a member.
Preceding him in death were six brothers, Waverly, Harry, Owen, Bustin, Lewis and Posie Roach, Sr., four sisters, Lucille Kennon, Dale McGuire, Pearl Stewart and Mary Barker and one step-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Dorris Roach of the home, three step-sons, Elmo Martin and Larry Martin both of Martinsville, Robert Martin and his wife Carolyn of Collinsville, two step-daughters, Mary Lou Martin of Boones Mill and Sherri Freeman of Springfield, VA, five step-granddaughters, four step-grandsons, eight step-great grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Smith of Yanceyville, NC, several special nieces and nephews, Nancy Hundley and her husband Chester, Charlotte Hundley and her husband Daniel, Ernest Roach, Tom McGuire and his wife Betty and Posie Roach, Jr. and wife Nancy and Eloise Mason and husband Mike and several special great nieces and great nephews and a very special friend, Donovan Freeman.
The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM and will be conducted by Pastor Raymond Moorefield and assisting him is a former Pastor Randy Barker and the music will be provided by a very dear friend, Patsy Arrington.
