Mae Marlowe Wells

Mae Marlowe Wells, 93, of Martinsville, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Pittsylvania County, May 19, 1918 to Payton Christopher Marlowe and Mary Ann Holley Marlowe. She was a member of Chatham Heights Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hugh Wells; three sisters, Latisha Rea, Rosa Mitchell and Fannie Marlowe; two brothers, Coleman Marlowe and Curtis Marlowe.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances Stanley of Ridgeway; one son, Jamie Wells and wife Nancy of Martinsville; six grandchildren, Renee Roach, Tanya Gillispie, Kimberly Meadows, Sherri Cassady, Christopher Stanley and Craig Stanley; five great-grandchildrenAllison Cassady, Katie Hasselbroek, Erica Stanley, Derrick Martin and Billy Roach; four great-great grandchildren, Jessica Hassebroek, Nolan Hassebroek, Ellie Hassebroek and Cheyenne Martin.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Dean Ashby officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday prior to the funeral service.
