Mary Bower Alcorn

Mary Bower Alcorn, 88, of Martinsville, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Franklin County on March 5, 1924 to Jesse Richard Bower and Lula Sigmon Bower. She was employed by DuPont for several years and was also in retail sales. She was a member of Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Pete” Alcorn; three brothers, Herman Bower, Robert “Ernie” Bower and Norman “Tom” Bower. She is survived by a son, Stephen L. Alcorn of Martinsville; two brothers, Irvin and Charles Bower of Bassett; one grandson and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Burial Park in the Sanctuary of Hope with Pastor Bob Thurman officiating.
